It seems that as the smartphone industry grows larger by the day, the walls that separated the companies before is slowly crashing down as well as companies are slowly embracing technologies and features offered by their rivals, a sense of openness that could have been frowned upon years ago.

A good example provided by Engadget is the Android-based BlackBerry Priv that can run Apple Music. That example alone shows three major brands in the mobile market, offering different products that work harmoniously.

According to The Verge, Apple Music was launched on the Android platform on Nov. 10. The app is available in every region that Apple Music is currently offered, expect China.

Tech analysts said that tech companies are starting to realize that collaborating with rival companies will create a far better yield than trying to force them out of business.

For some of these companies it is part of their strategy to reach a much wider audience. In some cases, like that of BlackBerry's, submitting to the Android platform instead of pushing its own operating system is a make or break deal in order to stay afloat in the industry.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is starting to port its programs into the mobile platform. Apparently, Microsoft did not anticipated the massive growth of the smartphone market that is why it took the company quite some time to join into the bandwagon.

Nowadays, even Apple, a company known for limiting its products within its own hardware, is starting to migrate its services into the Android platform. One notable example is Apple Music which was ported to the Android platform in order to balance the playing field that Spotify is currently enjoying.
