The Golden State Warriors are on top of this week's NBA Power Rankings after a historical start into the 2015-2016 NBA regular season.

The 2015 NBA champions have picked up where they left last season and are poised to let the entire league know they are seriously contending to be back-to-back champions.

With Curry leading the way for Golden State (8-0), the Dubs grabbed the top spot in the NBA Power Rankings posted by Sports Illustrated.

Second to their list is the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have been on a roll despite the absence of All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving.

Ever since their season opener loss to the Chicago Bulls, Lebron James and company are on a seven-game winning streak.

As expected, "King" James is leading the Cavs' charge, but the surprise for the team is Kevin Love, who seems to have found his All-Star form. In the Cavs' first eight games, Love has averaged 17.6 points, while grabbing 12.0 rebounds.

If Love continues to play in an All-Star level, Cavs have a great chance to pull off another NBA Finals appearance even without Kyrie, who is still recovering from a surgery that repaired his fractured right knee cap.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks sit at the third spot of the NBA Power Rankings after instantly clicking as a unit despite the absence of their key player Demarre Carroll, who signed with the Toronto Raptors this summer.

The continuity of the Hawks' starting core and Kent Bazemore's emergence as a legitimate threat at the shooting guard position are propelling Atlanta to potentially top the Eastern Conference side of the league.

Bazemore has been on a hot start for the Hawks, shooting 48.1 percent from the field and an impressive 50 percent from the three-point area. In 28.7 minutes of action, he averages 11.8 points and 4.9 rebounds.

NBC Sports have the San Antonio Spurs at no. 3, but for this week's Power Rankings they fall to fourth place, while the Los Angeles Clippers lands at the no. 5 spot.

The Spurs are evidently struggling to utilize LaMarcus Aldridge into Greg Popovich's rotation, but San Antonio does not seem too concerned about it. Most basketball pundits also expect Spurs to unleash their roster potential by mid-season once team chemistry is in full effect.

On the other hand, the Clippers have had early season problems after losing back-to-back close games against the Houston Rockets and the Warriors.

With new additions to the team, the Clippers are still searching for the right mix of players. But like the Spurs, the Clippers are projected to maintain their winning ways once Lance Stephenson, Josh Smith, and Paul Pierce adjust to Doc Rivers' plays.

The Detroit Pistons are surprisingly rising in the power rankings despite the absence of Brandon Jennings, while the OKC Thunder is showing good signs early in the season under new head coach Billy Donovan and a returning Kevin Durant.

With the superstar tandem Durant and Russell Westbrook in full operation, expect the Thunder to continually rise atop the Western Conference standings.

Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls have climbed a notch after impressive wins, while the Toronto Raptors move down to the 10th spot following three-consecutive losses.

In both reports, the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are at the bottom of the Power Rankings with winless records. The Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans was removed from the pit of the standings after getting their first win of the season.
