The diversity of the biggest continent in the world celebrated in pictures.

An ongoing exhibition features 50 of the best photographs of anything Asian--from people to culture to landscape--as captured by netizens across the globe.

Held at the 1916 Art Zone in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, the exhibition is part of the 14th Asia Arts Festival, which runs from Nov. 8-15, reported the Global Times.

Chinaculture.org, Quanzhou Municipal Committee’s Publicity Department and Quanzhou Normal University’s Fine Arts and Design College organized the exhibition.

Nearly 600 people from 10 countries joined the photography contest. The competition resulted in more than 700 entries, some of which came from non-Asian countries, such as Germany and the U.S.

The Ministry of Culture sponsored the photography contest entitled, “Just Share It - Explore the Beauty of Asian Arts and Culture.”

With the theme, “Beauty of Asian Arts and Culture,” the contest was open to any citizen in any part of the world. The deadline of submission was Oct. 10.

Select people from China Photographers' Association, the first national organization of its kind in the country established in Dec. 1956, and China Daily, the event’s media partner, judged the entries from Oct. 11-21. Their votes accounted for 60 percent.

Netizens also participated in the voting process. Their votes accounted for the remaining 40 percent.

The organizers announced three winners on Nov. 1.

The winners each received a roundtrip ticket to Quanzhou, a VIP invitation to grace the arts festival, and tickets to other festival activities. The ministry also covered their accommodation expenses and treated them to a tour of Quanzhou, Fujian Province’s largest city.

The Ministry of Culture launched the Asia Arts Festival in Beijing in 1998.
