New leaked image from Weibo suggests that HTC is working on One X9, which is expected to launch only in the first quarter of 2016.

LlabTooFeR, a reliable tipster when it comes to HTC devices, has claimed that the One X9 will be positioned by the Taiwanese maker below the HTC One A9. He added that HTC will launch the One X9 2-3 months before One M10 smartphone, HTC's rumoured next flagship, NDTV Gadgets reported.

HTC One X9 will not be a high-end device, but its specs will be lower than that of the newly released HTC One A9 handset. It could have a plastic body with metal accents, rather than a more expensive metal unibody.

Prolific Twitter leaker suggested that the HTC One X9 will be a phablet device with 5.5-inch full HD display that will carry support for 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. It will be powered by a MediaTek chip, but the exact model is not known yet, according to International Business Times. The chipset on the One X9 will be paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 4MP UltraPixel front-camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

The leaked Weibo image of the handset displays a BoomSound front speakers at the top and bottom. It also showed taglines 'pursuit of brilliance' and 'packed with city smarts' but did not reveal any specific details of the handset.

As for the price, if the suggestion that One X9 is less powerful than the One A9, then its price should be lower than One A9 which is $499.99.
