The all-star action thriller, "The Expendables 4," is set for a 2016 shoot and a 2017 release.

The movie, although not confirmed, will maintain its all-star action formula with a budgetary allocation of $100 million, Variety reported.

"The Expendables 4" is written by Dave Callaham and directed by Avi Lerner, starring Sylvester Stallone "Rambo." The movie gets built on the success and failure of its predecessors, "The Expendables 1" and "The Expendables 2," and "The Expendables 3" respectively.

"The Expendables 3" was reported to have been a huge letdown, and Stallone himself has acknowledged this. He has cited that toning down the levels of violence as the primary contributing factor. The reduced levels of violence, as reported by Master Herald, were intentional in a desperate attempt to lure in more viewership. Apparently, this backfired with IMDB and rotten tomato ratings drastically dropping.

The "Expendables" franchise has become notoriously famous for featuring some of the world's most adored superstars, and the upcoming movie will not be an exception. W.W.E superstars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Hulk Hogan are the latest to declare their intention to join the cast.

Rumors also suggest that Bollywood fan favorite Salman Khan may also be part of the cast. Jackie Chan and Manny Pacquiao are some of other notable names to get linked with acting roles in the upcoming movie. Pacquiao, however, has already distanced himself from the rumor citing his calendar as the limiting factor. Not to worry, with a reported operating budget of around $100 million, Stallone is expected to shop around for some more big names of actors to add to his already star-packed ensemble. They include, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham who are two of the most notable ever-present members.

Going by Stallone's apology and promise, "The Expendables" is bound to be a huge hit and one of the most anticipated movies of all times.
