"American Idol" season 15 is set to premiere on Jan. 6, 2016 and almost two months before the final season of the singing contest show stars, a teaser has been released featuring only nine out of the 14 previous winners.

Aside from "American Idol" season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, the "American Idol" season 15 clip also shows Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, David Cook,  Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and Phillip Phillips.

Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry are in the clip, as well, which seems to imply that even though they did not win "American Idol," they are two most successful alums of the show. Hudson finished seventh in season 3 but went on to become the only "American Idol" alum with an Academy Award. Daughtry placed fourth in season 5 and had the fastest selling debut rock album with his band Daughtry.

The winners who are not included in the "American Idol" season 15 clip are Taylor Hicks of season 5, Scotty McCreery of season 10, Candice Glover of season 12, Caleb Johnson of season 13 and Nick Fridiani of season 14.

At the end of the "American Idol" season 15 clip, Underwood says the show changed her entire life. In a recent interview with Parade, the "American Idol" season 4 winner said the show was "probably the most horrifying thing" because she had never been away from her hometown like that before.

Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. will return as judges of "American Idol" season 15. It has yet to be confirmed if original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson will appear in the final season.

In an interview with USA Today, Cowell said he "kind of want a cameo role" but noted that the "American Idol" season 15 finale night "belongs to the people who are currently on the show."
