MacBook Air and Pro 2016 release may no longer happen as Apple's chief executive Tim Cook presents iPad Pro as a device that will replace notebooks and PCs for many users.

It seems that Apple is not in the rush to release a new generation of MacBook laptops as the company is observing how the new iPad Pro will turn out.

Apple released the iPad Pro on Nov. 11 and consumers can finally get their hands on the device. The company boasts the iPad Pro is the most powerful yet.

Cook told The Telegraph his vision of the iPad Pro as a PC replacement. The chief executive also shared how tablets are slowly creeping in the PC market being an alternative to the bulky PCs.

"Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones," Cook said.

Cook added that iPad Pro will highly appeal to artists and those with creative minds thanks to the tablet's stylus, Apple Pencil.

This is totally different from the previous statement made by the Apple chief, according to CNET.

In 2012, Cook said at the company's earnings call, "Anything can be forced to converge, but the problem is that products are about tradeoffs...You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user".

Meanwhile, the delayed release of MacBook Air and Pro 2016 is probably true since there are rumors saying that the laptops will be announced early next year.

Some of the purported features of the MacBook Air 2016 are 13-inch and 15-inch screen displays, Intel Skylake-U chipset, OS X El Capitan, Type-C USB port, and an improved battery life. The laptops will most likely be equipped with Force Touch technology. The MacBook Air will be even thinner than last time.

The MacBook Pro 2016, on the other hand, is also expected to pack almost the same specs and features, but with more powerful RAM.

However, Apple has not confirmed the aforementioned features and release date.
