A new report showed that China is supportive of women more than ever, as the country released around 204.4 billion yuan ($32.9 billion) in guaranteed small loans to millions of women by Sept. 2014. The country also provided women with free screening for cervical and breast cancer.

According to the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), China provided 4 million women guaranteed small loans. This project was started back in 2009, with the help of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, as well as the People's Bank of China.

It is hoped that the program would lift majority of women out of poverty.

China also showed more support for the welfare of women by providing free screening for cervical cancer under the Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening Project. According to data on the Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening Project for Rural Women Residents, 63.3 million rural women already benefitted from the free screening for cervical cancer, while 956,000 already received free screening for breast cancer.

The early diagnosis of cancer benefits women as the chance of being treated is higher with early identification. Women under the program are also given easier access to medical treatment.

Back in October, a charity run was sponsored by ACWF to raise awareness on both cervical and breast cancer. Various officials of ACWF, Beijing Women's Federation, as well as the Beijing Municipal Government ran alongside 600 women and volunteers.

Ever since the project was put into place, free cervical cancer screening had been enjoyed by 1.56 million women and breast cancer screening by 1.42 million women. This is a breakthrough for Beijing, as it is the first city in China to provide such screenings to all of its citizens from 35 to 64 years old.
