Cadillac cars will be soon be fitted with new advanced rear view mirror that utilizes a processor and a camera to stream the view behind.

General Motors Chief Technical Officer Jon Lauckner said that the mirror has a "much wider" field of view of 80 degrees, four times the amount from the traditional ones.

Lauckner adds that Cadillac drivers will be able to see objects, including pedestrians and vehicles, on the rear and side of the car.

The high-tech rear mirror will be making its debut in late 2015 on the new Cadillac CT6, the new Flagship car from the New York-based GM car division.

Cadillac CT6 executive chief engineer Travis Hester compared the rear vision to driving a "convertible with the top down."

The new mirror also eliminates obstructions from inside the car, giving the Cadillac driver "unimpeded" view outside, without the traditional "blind-spots," according to Hester.

The high dynamic range (HDR) camera device also features a "water-shedding hydrophobic coating" to prevent it from being dirty and to maintain visibility. Its TFT-LCD display has a pixel resolution of 1280 x 240 pixels and a density of 171 pixels per inch. Thanks to its HDR feature, there will be no problems in maintaining visibility in low-light scenarios.

It also features a switch, which allows the drivers to switch between the high-tech streaming view and the traditional view.

Cadillac's newest Flagship vehicle CT6 will be the first to feature the high-tech mirror and will also be installed with other new technology, such as the "super cruise" option, which enables limited autonomous driving.
