After releasing the latest OnePlus X smartphone in different markets around the world, the Chinese company officially launched the device in the North American market, with a price tag of $249 for the unlocked version.

The OnePlus X smartphone is currently available for pre-order in the U.S. and Canada via the company's official website, OnePlus.net. However, buyers must secure an invitation in order to purchase the handset.

Those who are interested to purchase the OnePlus X handset can receive invites by signing up for the reservation list at the OnePlus.net website.

Specs-wise, the OnePlus X smartphone comes with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version operating system pre-installed, along with OxygenOS user interface on top.

The phone sports a 5.0-inch AMOLED display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, and protected by the Gorilla Glass 3. It is accompanied by an 8 megapixel front-facing camera and a 13 megapixel f/2.2 rear-facing camera. The primary camera comes with an LED flash and features face detection, touch focus, autofocus, HDR and panorama capability, according to GSM Arena.

Under the hood, the OnePlus X is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801 processor, and packs 3GB of RAM, up to 16GB of internal memory storage, and a 2,525 mAh battery. The built-in memory can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

In terms of the design, the OnePlus X is made of fire-baked ceramic or onyx black glass, according to OnePlus. Other specs include dual-SIM functionality and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM radio, and 4G LTE connectivity.
