In a recent interview, Belgium's deputy prime Minister and Minister of Security and Home affairs Jan Jambon commented that it is indeed difficult to encrypt the messages communicated through Sony's PlayStation.

The interview was held after the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and he further stated that the international security agencies find it really difficult to track or encrypt messages from PS4 than WhatsApp. This could be the main reason why terrorist prefer communication over PS4.
