The Memphis Grizzlies are still struggling with a 7-7 record at the eighth spot in the stacked Western Conference this season. One of their noticeable weaknesses this year is their lack of reliable outside shooting as starting point guard Mike Conley Jr. remains to be their only consistent threat from the perimeter.

This issue led to the proposal of Sport Illustrated's DeAntae Prince of a potential move by the Grizz to acquire New Orleans Pelicans' shooting guard Eric Gordon, who is said to be currently "shooting 34.3% from three-point line and looking as healthy as he has since he averaged 22.3 points for the Clippers in 2010-11".

In 13 games for the injury-plagued Pelicans so far, the 2008 seventh overall pick is averaging 18.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, which are quite frankly what Memphis needs right now at the two guard position.

Business Insider's Scott Davis noted that the Grizzlies' defiance to adjust to the small-ball era of the new NBA is perhaps "finally catching up on them" as their grit and grind style of play seems to be not effective anymore in today's game.

Davis particularly cited the combination of Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, and Tony Allen to be "problematic" as it is more "reliant on post play with little outside shooting, but today's NBA has become all about efficient perimeter scoring.

Acquiring Gordon, who is in the final year of his four-year, $58.4 million contract that will make him an unrestricted free agent next summer, will surely solve all these problems by Memphis and would instantly make them a contending once again.
