A Canadian Sikh was surprised when he woke up on Nov. 14, Saturday. A photograph of him was circulating on social media and he was being accused of being one of the terrorists behind the attacks in Paris, France on Nov. 13, Friday.

Apparently, a bathroom mirror selfie of Veerender Jubbal using his iPad and posted on Twitter on Aug. 4 was photoshopped to make him look like a terrorist. A suicide vest has been added over his shirt and the iPad he is holding has been morphed into a Quran.

The photoshopped image circulated on social media claiming that it was a photograph of one of the terrorists who recently attacked Paris. To make matters worse, it was printed on the front page of La Razon claiming Jubbal was one of the terrorists in the caption.

The Spanish publication, which is one of the biggest newspapers in Spain, eventually apologized for the misunderstanding. The culprit behind Jubbal's photoshopped image has yet to be identified.

Jubbal took to Twitter to respond to those who bashed him and those who defended him from the malicious photoshopped image and the erroneous report by the Spanish publication. On Nov. 15, Sunday, he tweeted, "Be sure to read this thread, if you have not, please. I am trending in numerous countries around the world, as well."

It turns out that Jubbal, who describes himself as a games critic, freelance writer and diversity consultant  on Twitter, has been a critic against the GamerGate movement. In fact, it was him who started the #StopGamerGate2014 hashtag.

Meanwhile, it has been concluded by the French authorities that the mastermind of the Paris terrorist attacks was Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 27, a Belgian man who has fought for the Islamic State in Syria, New York Times reported.
