Stephen Curry is having yet another dream season, leading the Golden State Warriors to a historical start of the 2015-2016 NBA regular season, which reminds the team's interim coach Luke Walton of a former teammate.
Walton, who is took the helm of the Warriors' coaching in an interim-basis, has compared Curry to his old friend and Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant as both players seem to have the same "killer instinct" to win games.
"Steph, you can see when he gets it, and he wants it, which is the exact same as Kobe," Walton said, reports Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News. "They just go about it in a different way. But he's got that killer instinct in him."
If there is anyone who could closely compare Curry to Bryant, it would be Walton.
Walton played most of his career as an NBA player playing alongside Bryant in LA. He helped the "Black Mamba" and the Lakers win back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.
Curry has become one of the best and likeable basketball player on the planet due to his humility and wholesome image. Dubbed as one of the "Splash Brothers," Curry captivated the hearts of basketball fans around the world with his ridiculously streaky shooting from the three point line and dribbling wizardry.
Bryant, on the other hand, has established himself as the alpha male of his generation and known for his explosiveness during his prime years. The five-time NBA champ is often compared to basketball icon Michael Jordan due to his competitiveness and partially because of his identical moves with his "Airness."
While Curry and Bryant have identically the same level of will to win games, Warriors forward Draymond Green explained there is a slight difference between the two's trait.
"Kobe will tell you, 'I'm about to kill you,'" Draymond Green said, explaining the difference. "Steph won't tell you. He's just going to kill you."
However, this season belongs to Curry and they are completely in different levels. The Warriors are 16-0, while the Lakers are at the pit of the standings with a 2-12 record.
Now that the Warriors have pass over the record of an NBA team with the best start in a season, Golden State is set to reach another milestone of winning 33-straight games. The record was set by the 1971-72 Lakers team that featured Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Gail Goodrich.
Bryant believes the Warriors could continue to extend the team's winning record and does not any reason why they could not do it, reports USA Today.
Curry and Bryant are assassins of their own generations. They may differ drastically in statistics and achievements, but they have the same passion in playing the game and what they bring the same excitement to basketball fans.
