With the ever increasing prices of petrol and gasoline, the advent of hybrid cars has been making headlines now in the past few years.
In fact, several car manufacturers have already released their own car models that run on electricity. In their recent CES 2015 presentation, Chevrolet gave the press and enthusiasts a private sneak peek at its newest car, the Chevy Volt 2016.
Manufactured by General Motors, the Chevy Volt is a hybrid electric car first produced in 2010. The initial concept of the car was presented at the North American International Auto Show and has immediately caught the attention of major car manufacturers.
The Volts runs using a built-in battery. When the battery is nearly drained off, the car automatically switches to an internal combustion engine that runs an electric generator in order to lengthen the cars mileage.
The Volt has already garnered several awards including the 2012 European Car of the Year and 2011 North American Car of the Year.
The latest model, Chevy Volt 2016, was partially unveiled at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, no major specifications were released.
General Motors is reportedly going to fully unveil the car in the upcoming Detroit Motor Show. The CES presentation only served as a teaser.
To date, the Volt concept was a major gamble for General Motors which is experiencing some pretty tough times lately. With the confirmed release of the Chevy Volt, General Motors might be holding the key in opening the public to this new concept of cars.
No official statement yet has been released whether the car will be mass-produced but seeing GM's enthusiasm in revealing the car ahead of its announced arrival could prove otherwise.
Many speculations still surround the new Volt model; this will all be silenced once the Chevy Volt will be officially released on the Detroit Auto Show in the weeks to come.
