The band recently collaborated with Beyonce and released "Hymn for the Weekend" sparking speculations that the latter will appear in the band's Super Bowl stage. Beyonce has an endorsement deal with Pepsi, which is sponsoring the Super Bowl 50th edition's halftime show, making it a strong possibility the "Drunk in Love" singer will perform alongside Coldplay during halftime.

Rihanna, who released the 2012 electropop and R&B "Princess of China" collaboration with the band, may also be performing the single during the event.

There have also been speculations Bruno Mars will likewise be appearing on stage during the American football championship, while rumors of Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 taking the stage during halftime have proven to be untrue.

The televised event being 50th Anniversary of the American football annual championship game, the NFL may be featuring several acts for the audience. E! Online predicted the halftime show will be a showcase of "the past, present, and future of music."

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most popular segments of the NFL championship, and attracts as much viewership as the final deciding game of the season itself.

The world's most watched football event has hosted some of the music industry's biggest names, including Madonna, Michael Jackson, U2, Prince, and the Rolling Stones, and has attracted considerable attentions from fans.

Super Bowl 50 is expected to take place at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 7, 2016, and will air live on CBS.
