Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs Apple iPad Pro: As Desktop/Laptop Replacement, Surface Pro 4 Blows Away Apple’s Tablet

On September 9, the tech giant Apple introduced its new iPad Pro at its fall media event. Microsoft has also unveiled its Surface Pro 4 along with Surface Book. As a desktop or laptop replacement, Surface Pro 4 blows away Apple's tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2,736 x 1,824 pixels, whereas Apple iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2,732 x 2,048 pixels, according to Tech Radar.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 includes the stylus when users purchase it and offers an optional keyboard cover. The keyboard cover features a glass trackpad. It means that users can use the Surface Pro 4 as they can a laptop. In addition, the device supports mice. Users can plug it into the USB port or connect through Bluetooth.

Apple iPad Pro, on the other hand, works with the company's new Pencil Stylus and Smart Keyboard Cover.

The Surface Pro 4 comes in several more options than the iPad Pro. The Apple iPad Pro gives buyers 3 options: two 128GB sized models and one 32GB sized model. All the models have A9X chip and 4GB of RAM.

On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, offers three chip options - Intel Skylake Core M3, Core i5, and Core i7, according to Windows Central. It gives users the option of storage to: 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. Also, buyers got the option of 16GB, 8GB or 4GB of RAM.

The Surface Pro 4 gives users many more ports such as USB 3.0 port and a microSD card slot. However, the device does not give users a cellular connection. There is no 4G option.

Apple iPad Pro has an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. On the other hand, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has a 5MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 runs Windows 10, a complete desktop operating system along with desktop-class apps. On the other hand, Apple iPad Pro runs iOS 9 - while there are many apps for that, it does not compare to being able to run a complete desktop operating system like Windows 10.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is a real laptop replacement because it offers a range of accessories and ports and runs a desktop class operating system and apps.

Meanwhile, according to reports,the iPad Pro's size and an iOS mobile operating system is not good enough to replace the desktop OS. The device becomes unresponsive when users charge it. According to some users, the home button and touch screen of the Apple iPad Pro are not working well.
