Children are considered the future of China and the government acknowledges this by making sure that they grow up healthy.

To do so, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong claimed that the Chinese government, at all levels, should be prioritizing the improvements of medical care afforded to the nation's children, making sure that they get the quality services they need speedily and accurately.

On Jan. 4, 2015, Liu went to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics and Beijing Children's Hospital to look at how the medical staff and patients were faring and to send her best regards. During this inspection visit, Liu proclaimed children as a critical part of the country's mission to ensure the health of its people.

"The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have invested an increasing amount of funds in improving public healthcare, in terms of immunization planning and birth-defect prevention," stated Liu.

"The Chinese government has made great efforts in providing treatment for children with leukemia or congenital heart disease in the rural areas of the country," she added.

After getting a report regarding the hospital's current standing and reviewing it, Liu acknowledged that medical resources catering to the needs of children patients are still insufficient. Liu recognized the need to improve children's access to medical care as well. In light of what she saw, Liu said that the problems would have to be responded to.

"The Chinese government will put emphasis on ensuring children's health and will bring about reforms to establish a children's medical care system at all levels across China," Liu assured.
