"Final Fantasy VII" game director Tetsuya Nomura also shared with Gematsu, "If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become summarized. We'd have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts."

Meanwhile, "Final Fantasy VII" remake will still make use of the active time battle gauge. However, it will involve new ways to be used. In the trailer, fans will notice the gauge and they should focus on it when it fills and turns into red. Apart from that, the "Final Fantasy VII" game's three party members will also be retained. However, gamers are allowed to switch between them or just play as one of them.

"Final Fantasy VII" remake is aiming for a seamless active combat. According to Nomura, there will not be any actions that need a technique. By using the all-new battle system, it will allow them to do action battles and at the same time fight while thinking smartly and strategically.
