Verizon Commences Wi-Fi Calling Rollout On Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge This Week (Photo : doddleme)
Android customers have a reason to smile since Verizon will finally roll out free Wi-Fi calling app this week for both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
According to Verizon Wireless official website, the company announced recently that from Dec. 8, Tuesday, Verizon customers having Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones will finally receive voice calls and instigate video calls via their Wi-Fi connection.
The Wi-Fi calling application will roll out in software updates in phases, with the update scheduled to launch on more Android devices and iOS gadgets in the course of early 2016.
Using the Wi-Fi calling app will make calls free in the United States, although calls made to numbers outside the U.S. will be billed at international rates, Tech Times reported. The voice calls made via Wi-Fi connectivity run entirely on the Internet technology, which can offer clearer calls in addition to incorporating video services. Customer can utilize the feature when they are connected to Wi-Fi at the comfort of their homes, at the office, when travelling, or at any time as long as there is a Wi-Fi connection in range.
The publication added revealed that Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users can activate the Wi-Fi app by downloading the latest software update and switching on the Advanced Calling from the Settings menu.
Verizon becomes the last major U.S. wireless carrier to offer Wi-Fi calling to customers. AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile were on the forefront in providing their customers with the free calling option.
