Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Premium, and Xperia Z5 Compact are the top favorites currently to acquire the latest version of the Android OS, according to Sony Mobile Blog.

A latest report says that the roll out for these Sony devices is expected to begin sometime this month. However, the OTA is expected to be absolutely dependent on the carrier.

This means that the actual release date of the Android Marshmallow update for the Sony Xperia Z5 devices will depend totally on their network carriers. The release dates of the OTA update for AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon may differ. However, it does seem likely that all of these major US network carriers will try to get their hands on the update before the holiday season kicks in.

In addition, devices like Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact are already running on Sony's concept build of Android Marshmallow. This is valid only in a few parts of Europe. Since these devices were registered for beta testing, they were eligible to download the concept build of the OS. They got the concept build starting Oct. 19, and are now waiting for the release of the official OTA update.

Other devices which are expected to receive this update include Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia Z3 Plus, Xperia C4, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and many others.
