J.J. Abrams' upcoming space sci-fi film "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is not going to have a post-credit scene.

In a press conference, Abrams himself confirmed that fans were not getting extra sequences following the credits of his "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" for his upcoming film, Comic Book reported. This marks the difference between "Star Wars" and Marvel's films, such as Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man," which both had post-credit scenes.

"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is not set to have a post-credit scene that links it to Gareth Edward's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" in two reasons, according to Screen Rant.

The first reason is that Edward's "Rogue One" is not a continuation of the saga the new "Star Wars" film trilogy is telling the audience. Thus, it is necessary for Lucasfilm to attach a post-credit scene in "The Force Awakens." The second reason is the unfamiliarity of some casual moviegoers with "Rogue One's" release, which may confuse them if they see its teasers following "The Force Awakens."

"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set 30 years after the events in the "Return of Jedi." it showcases an ensemble of both old and new heroes and villains played by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Simon Pegg, Max von Sydow, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.

Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Dec. 18. Watch the international trailer here:
