New "Ant-Man 2" details will feature the possible return of Janet Van Dyne, a different genre for the sequel and Paul Rudd writing the script.

Diretor Peyton Reed revealed new details regarding "Ant-Man 2's" development as he told ComicBookResources that the productions will have a different genre for the sequel since they will introduce Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) as the new Wasp making the aspect of the film much "weirder" than the first film.

The sequel will be officially called "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and they wanted the sequel to be different since the first "Ant-Man" movie is mainly a heist styled film. Reed did not give out much detail as to what genre "Ant-Man 2" will be but teased that it will be "surprise" from Marvel fans.

Screenwriter Adam McKay is set to return for "Ant-Man 2" with writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. "Ant-Man" star Paul Rudd has also offered to join the writers making the script for the sequel. Both Barrer and Ferrari have enjoyed several successes in the screenwriting scene due to their success in "Die in A Gunfight". McKay has been rumored to helm the last phase 3 MCU film, "The Inhumans".

In other news, rumors are making rounds that a possible plot details for "Ant-Man 2" will have Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Hope Van Dyne/Wasp and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) attempt to go to the Quantum Realm to rescue Janet Van Dyne, Hank's wife and Hope mother, The Bit Bag reported.

Janet Van Dyne/Wasp was trap in the Quantum Realm after she tries to shrink in a molecular level to stop a Soviet nuclear missle during the events of "Ant-Man". Scott Lang also entered shrink into a molecular level in order to defeat Darren Cross/Yellow Jacket (Corey Stoll), but also caused him to enter the Quantum Realm due to his continues shrinking. Scott managed to survive the Quantum Realm out of instincts and desperation, and claims he does not remember.

Further speculations revealed that Janet will somehow transform into the character Eternity, a physical manifestation of time itself possessing the collective consciousness of every last living creature in the universe. Janet disappeared ages ago, she has progressed way beyond microscopic, atomic, subatomic levels in unknown realm where she is shrinking for all eternity. Since Eternity's origins are unknown it is possible than Janet has change over time.

"Ant-Man 2" will launch in cinemas sometime in 2018.
