"The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries may have just hinted that Stefan's (Paul Wesley) relationship with Elena (Nina Dobrev) was more important than the latter's relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dries said that they contemplated long and hard on how to present Dobrev's last episode on the hit The CW series in season 6.
During the discussion, Dries said that they wanted to make sure Stefan and Elena's last scene together would be epic.
"Elena and Stefan were the love story on the show for so long and to not give that goodbye the screen time and emotional weight that it deserved was very concerning to Julie Plec and me. We wanted to make sure that felt very powerful, and at the same time, we knew that it could not come after the Damon-Elena goodbye. So it was like, how do we give this weight without taking away from Caroline and Bonnie's goodbye or Matt's goodbye? It's sort of like a puzzle," she explained.
Meanwhile, Dries also revealed that the last line that Elena uttered on the show also happened to be the last line during the season 6 finale episode.
"Rarely does it happen where the last line of dialogue you say is the last line of the episode, so for the last things for us to shoot in season 6 to be Elena's last scene was very strange how it came together perfectly," she said.
Since Dobrev's exit from the series, "The Vampire Diaries" has already aired more than 9 episodes for season 7.
