Does Kaiya, the adopted dog of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have a grudge against politicians even if his new owner is one?
This appears to be the case after Kaiya bit two people in one day. On Wednesday, during a candle-lighting ceremony that marks Hannukah, a Jewish festival, the 10-year old mixed breed bit a member of parliament who belongs to the PM's Likud party and the husband of the deputy foreign minister, reports The New York Post.
It was the PM's son who got Kaiya from a rescue home in early 2015. But Netanyahu has taken a liking to the pooch and even tweeted a photo of their new family pet, saying, "How much light Kaiya brought into our home! If you want a canine, find an adult dog to rescue. You won't regret it."
In November, Netanyahu introduced Kaiya to U.S. State Secretary John Kerry who appears not to have been bitten by the animal even if the photo that the PM also tweeted showed Kerry petting the white mixed breed.
Sharren Haskel, a veterinary nurse and Knesset member, dismisses the two biting incidents as trivial. Haskel is one of Kaiya's bite victims. The other is the husband of Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, according to Time. The BBC reports that Haskel and Hotovely's husband were not seriously injured.
