Despite record breaking rollback in terms of fuel prices, many car manufacturers are still presenting their own developed cars in the hybrid and electric car market and Hyundai is no exception to this, as this tiny portion of the car market industry is widely held as the future of vehicles.

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is equipped with the company's TMED or Transmission-Mounted Electrical Device which gives the car maximum miles-per-gallon mileage. According to various test drive statistics the Sonata can reach up to 39 miles-per-gallon on the traffic congested city situation where acceleration is needed and a 44 miles-per-gallon mileage in terms of highway driving; overall the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid has a combined 42 miles-per-gallon average.

Hyundai's newest hybrid car also boasts a 2.0liter four-cylinder gas powered engine and a 38 kW electric motor. The Sonata Hybrid's gas powered engine and electric motor can achieve a total output of 193 horsepower. The cars 1.62 kWh battery combined with the TMED's power enables the car to travel up to 75 miles-per-hour using its electric motor alone.

Hyundai said that the 2016 Sonata Hybrid will be available in the market later this year and no pricing has been announced yet. The Sonata will go head to head with other hybrid cars like the Ford Fusion Hybrid and Ford Fusion Energi, Honda's hybrid version of the Accord and Toyota also released a hybrid variant of its very own Camry.
