The Google Pixel C that has recently become available in the U.S. and the U.K. It has come out to compete with the likes of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Apple iPad Pro.

The Pixel C is a 100 percent Google device from its design, hardware and software, Gizmodo reported. The Surface Pro 4 is its major competitor and successor model of the last year's Surface Pro 3.  The specifications, features, price and availability of both devices have been compared.

Design and Display

The Google Pixel C is a convertible tablet device. However, by connecting a Bluetooth keyboard that costs $149 extra, it can be used as a laptop. The keyboard can be snapped to the back panel of the device when it is not in use. The tablet sports a 10.2-inch display that offers a resolution of 2560 x 1800 pixels.

On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 is a laptop-tablet hybrid. Users can use it as a large-sized tablet or connect a TypeCover keyboard to use it as a laptop. It features a bigger screen of 12.3-inch that support supports 2736 x 1824 pixels.

Processor and RAM

The Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC drives the Google Pixel C. It is coupled by 3 GB of RAM. It is not available in multiple CPU and RAM variants like the Surface Pro 4.

The Microsoft device comes in several processor variants like Intel Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7. The RAM options available on the Surface Pro 4 are 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB. The processor and RAM variants of Surface Pro 4 indicates that the device has been built to carry out high-end tasks.

Storage and Camera

The Google Pixel C comes in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options whereas the Surface Pro 4 comes with options like 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

Both the devices come with 8 MP rear camera. However, the front-facing camera of Google Pixel C is of 2 MP whereas the one present on Surface Pro 4 is of 5 MP.

Software, Other Features and Price

The Google Pixel C comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow preinstalled and offers options such as USB Type-C, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity. The Surface Pro 4 is a Windows 10 powered device. Apart from connectivity features available on Pixel C, the Surface Pro 4 also offers support for 4G LTE. It comes with additional features like iris scanner and Surface Pen stylus, Mobile Syrup reported. 

The starting model of Pixel C costs $499 and the highest configuration model is of $599. The base model of Surface Pro 4 is priced at $899 and the highest specifications variant featuring Core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is available for $1,799. For both devices, users have to spend additional money to purchase a keyboard.
