Tech giant Google recently teamed up with LucasFilm in creating the "Lightsaber Escape," a browser-based game based on the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie playable on the Google Chrome desktop browser and its smartphone version.

"Lightsaber Escape" puts players in the shoes of a Jedi Knight trying to escape an Imperial Star Destroyer while fighting it way through a horde of storm troopers.

The game's gameplay mechanics are relatively simple. After proper calibration, the smartphone acts as the grip of the lightsaber and moving it side to side allow players to control the weapon. Players need to properly position their lightsaber in order to deflect laser blast coming from storm troopers.

The game is praised by gamers for its intricate way of integrating both a smartphone and desktop browser in its gameplay mechanics.

The game does not require any plugin installation. Players only need to visit the "Lightsaber Escape" website, preferably through Google Chrome, and then visit the URL provided through their smartphone. The next step is to calibrate the smartphone into a lightsaber and everything is set.

The game can only be optimized through a smartphone. Unfortunately, tablet devices are not supported.

According to The Telegraph, Google has truly embraced the "Star Wars" spirit. In November, the search giant rolled out an intergalactic theme for its apps and services. Users can choose either the Rebel Alliance or Empire theme for their Gmail, Maps and search theme. Google also released a "Star Wars" themed virtual reality experience for its Google Cardboard VR headset.
