With his experience in helming horror films, Asakura is assumed to be a suitable director to adapt "Dokumushi" to the big screen.

Ryota Murai and Rina Takeda are also set to star in "Dokumushi." Murai is known for his roles in "Kamen Rider Decade" and "Doamaiger D" while Takeda is known for her roles in "Attack on Titan" and "Wakako Zake." Other members of the cast include Kyoka Mizukami, Mao Noguchi, Kiyota Uji, Ryusuke Komakine, and Shintaro Akiyama.

The manga is based on Yasu's novel "Kodoku" and centers on a group of seven people, who find themselves trapped in an abandoned school building, which locks them in seven days.

Equipped with surveillance cameras, pots, carving knives, and electric hot-pot, the school has water, but no food. The equipments present in the school suggest that the people who captured the group wanted them to eat one another, according to Crunchy Roll.

The characters must find a way to save themselves from the terrible situation, which implies the possibility of seeing some of them die. However, reports say that the film ending will not be faithful from the manga and the original novel.

Yasu and Aida's "Dokumushi" is slated to premiere in theaters and as a Niconico live broadcast in Japan on Apr. 9, 2016.
