The said figure imply that the seventh installment of the "Star Wars" film franchise managed to top David Yates' "Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows Part 2" at $91.1 million on July 8, 2011. The record also raised "Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens" as the first to gross a triple-digit million in only one day.

On Dec. 17, Thursday, "Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens" led the box office, grossing $57 million. Again, it is superior that Yates' "Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows Part 2," with $43.5 million on July 7, 2011, which was also a Thursday.
