The Android 6.0 Marshmallow Cyanogen Mod 13 Nightly custom ROM is now available for Samsung Galaxy S3 users for download.

Samsung is no longer offering newer Android builds for owners of Galaxy S3 smartphone. The last Android build that was made available for Galaxy S3 users was Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Hence, the S3 did not receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and it won't be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

By installing the Cyanogen Mod 13 custom ROM based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Samsung Galaxy S3 users can try the latest Android build. The custom ROM can be downloaded from here.

One needs to be aware of the fact that since it is a Nightly edition, it is not a stable version and users may experience performance issues occasionally while using it. Hence, it is recommended to perform a backup on Galaxy S3 before installing Android 6.0 based Cyanogen Mod 13 Nightly custom ROM, Phone Arena reported.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the bestselling Galaxy series smartphones ever. It is fitted with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display. It is powered by 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 chipset along with 1 GB of RAM.

It comes in multiple storage versions like 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. It supports up to 64 GB of microSD on its external storage. It features a rear camera of 8 MP and a frontal shooter of 1.9 MP.

It lacks LTE but comes with connectivity features such as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.0. It is equipped with a 2,100 mAh battery that can deliver a talk time of 12 hours on 3G.
