Tips that Hayes and Phillips might have been in Florida were sent to police on Jan. 16, Friday, when Henry County Police in Georgia told ABC News that they would continue to check local convenience stores in Georgia for possible surveillance footage despite the lack of evidence that the runaway teens were still there.

On Jan. 17, Saturday, Hayes and Phillips were reportedly seen in Alabama, Florida and Texas. While on the loose, forgery charges were awaiting them for allegedly passing a forged check. At the time, the police pointed out that the best place for the teen couple to be is "back home."
