American video game company Harmonix decided to improve the integrity and stability of “Rock Band 4” leaderboard scores by wiping it.
The leaderboards for every “Rock Band 4” song are being reset in January as part of a wider update to the game. The developer explained that it feels the players’ complain, but said this move was necessary for the betterment of the game.
“That said, these changes will ensure that in the future, you won't be unseated from the top spot by someone using an exploit. And if we do discover an issue down the road, we can address it much more quickly and easily,” the developer said in a blog post.
To fight bugs that allow players to artificially or unfairly improve their scores, specifically one that allows drummers to easily go into overdrive, Harmonix will be changing each of the songs available in the game, as well as the difficulty levels and instruments, according to Ubergizmo.
As part of the adjustments, the leaderboards will be wiped clean in order to eliminate those scores obtained through unfair means. In this way, it does not have to repeat this particular practice again, which will certainly go a long way in making players’ lives easier. Only those records posted to the boards will be removed; players will still maintain their personal high scores in their game's stats.
In addition to these changes, “Rock Band 4's” January patch will introduce the ability for players to post scores from Play a Show mode to online leaderboards, just as they can with Quickplay scores, Gamespot reported.
“Rock Band 4” was launched in October for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
