"XXX 3: The Return of Xander Cage" got Jet Li and Tony Jaa to join the casting, while the original cast of the "XXX" franchise Vin Diesel will return on the upcoming sequel.
Although Li and Jaa were confirmed to join the casting, it is not sure if they will play the role of the villains or good guys. Aside from the "Hero" actor and the "Ong‑Bak: Muay Thai Warrior" actor, UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone will also join the casting, and Padukone will be the leading lady of the movie.
In December, Diesel announced that Samuel L Jackson will reprise his role as Gibbons, and "The Fast and the Furious" actor reportedly wanted to pick the co-star actress on "Furious 7" to portray the leading lady role. However, the actress turned down the role because of the commitments that could not be worked out, according to Movie Web.
Aside from announcing new actors to appear on the movie, the 48-year-old "Furious 7" actor Diesel revealed that the film will be shot in the Philippines, Yahoo Movies reported.
The "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" is a third series, where Diesel will portray the lead role Xander Cage. The first series of the action flick was first released in 2002 and it was a box office success.
Li is one of the biggest stars in Hong Kong action movie, while Ja, or also known for his Thai name Tatchakorn Yeerum, is one of the popular action stars in Thailand. Meanwhile, Padukone is a huge star in India.
