South Korean actor Yoo Ah-In is set to make a special cameo appearance in the next episode of KBS2's "Descendants of the Sun."
The 29-year-old actor will appear in episode 13, which is set to air on April 6, Wednesday. "Descendants of the Sun's" producers reporterevealed the nature of Yoo's character in the drama series, The Korea Times has learned.
The actor is expected to slay the character of a brilliant bank clerk, who adhere to his strong moral principles. Although not that much has been revealed, some fans claim that Yoo's special role is pivotal to the storyline of the drama series.
Yoo is said to be close with Song Hye-Kyo, who plays Dr. Kang Mo-yeon, as he previously showed his support for the actress by sending a surprise food truck to the drama set. In addition, he also worked with Song Joong-ki, who plays Army Captain Yoo Si-jin, in the 2010 fusion historical drama titled "Sungkyunkwan Scandal."
With the melodrama series' popularity continues to soar worldwide, KBS2 will reportedly air a three-part special that is set to air a week after the finale episode on April 14 in South Korea.
On April 20 and 21, the first two special episode will feature highlight clips from the drama series. KBS2 is set to finish off by airing the making-of clips and an epilogue, showing viewers the future of the on-screen couple on April 22, according to Asian Wiki.
"Descendants of the Sun" has renewed its viewership record as the melodrama recently broke into the 30.4 percent viewership ratings across the country. Meanwhile, 36.6 percent rating has been noted in Seoul, as revealed by Nielson Korea, adding that it is the highest viewing figures reported in the said region.
