Shannen Doherty's former cast member in the popular 1990's drama series "Beverly Hills 90210" has shared a supportive message given the actress' cancer battle. Jason Priestley has even complimented Doherty for her courage and inner strength.
Priestley only had kind words for his former co-star when Entertainment Tonight caught up with him at the fundraiser event called "Raising The Bar to End Parkinson's" held on Wednesday, July 27. The charity event held at Studio City's Laurel Point was to benefit the Michael J. Fox foundation.
The Hollywood actor stated that he found Doherty's decision to share her cancer battle on social media as "incredibly brave." The "Charmed" star previously uploaded a series of Instagram pictures that documented the actress' decision to shave her hair.
Priestley even commented that Doherty's social media actions have served as a platform to let other people know of the challenges that cancer patients encounter. He also praised his former co-star for being open about her disease and how it can help other people that may be suffering from the same illness.
Priestley described the actress as a strong and tough person. He even shared his optimism on how Doherty will hopefully be able to win her cancer battle. "I know that she's gonna come through this fight and she's gonna be OK," he stated.
Both Priestley and Doherty became famous when they starred in the TV series "Beverly Hills 90210." The show aired during the 1990's where the two celebrities played siblings Brandon and Brenda. However, Doherty left the series in 1994 after the show's Season 4.
Meanwhile, the actress has revealed an emotional process to her Instagram followers where she cut her own hair. Doherty uploaded the images on Wednesday, July 20, and captioned some of the shots as steps to her shaving her hair, Us Weekly magazine reported.
The first image featured a touching scene of the Hollywood star being embraced by her mother. The next pictures then showed Doherty holding a pair of scissors as she snipped several strands until all her hair has been cut off. In the final Instagram photo, the actress thanked her family and friends for supporting her through her cancer battle.
