When "The Last Ship" Season 4 premieres it is expected to reveal where Tom Chandler went after he resigned from the navy. With unexpected Season 3 finale twist, episode 1 is expected to focus on Captain's life after he quits the job and his future. Meanwhile, he will be seen coping with the tragic death of his friend, Tex.

In the last-aired episode, Allison tried to kill Chandler when he returns to San Diego. Despite all his efforts to save the world, the Captain is accused of destroying the military.  Unfortunately, during a deadly combat, Tex gets hit with a bullet and he succumbs to the injury.

According to TV Line, Tex's death was last straw for Chandler. Having lost Dr. Rachel, his father and good friend like Tex, it is no surprise the Captain took such a drastic step.

"We thought it'd be great to sort of leave Chandler in a place where you wonder, "Where's he going to be next time you see him, when we come back for Season 4? And can he ever get back that feeling he had that allowed him to stay this rock for everybody for three seasons?" Showrunner Steve Kane told TV Line.
At the same time, Tex's last words will echo for Chandler throughout the future of the show.

"What was also interesting for us was that Tex before he died was saying, 'Don't [kill Allison Shaw] This is not who you are.' He's trying to remind Chandler of all the things Chandler's having trouble remembering in the heat of passion. Right before he passes away, he says to him, "You're a good man" - as in, "Don't do what you're going to do" and also, "Don't hold yourself accountable for everything that's happened, because you are a good man." That's going to echo for Chandler throughout the future of the show," Kane added.

It is said that "The Last Ship" Season 4 episode 1 will pick up almost a year after the finale fallout. In addition, Sasha will be back next season and the show will delve deeper into her relationship with Chandler.

Meanwhile, Dane spoke to Three If By Space about "The Last Ship" Season 4 and revealed it is "going to be intense."

"Season four will probably be about Chandler's journey back to consciousness. It's going to be like an epic, mythical-type odyssey. You're going to dig it," Dane said.

So when will "The Last Ship" Season 4 premiere? Previous seasons schedules suggest episode 1 is expected to go on air in June 2017. However, the network is yet to reveal the actual date. Stay tuned, new updates and spoilers are coming soon.
