Blackjacks and YG fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming 2NE1 comeback, but it may not happen anytime soon.
While YG Entertainment is busy promoting BLACKPINK, 2NE1 was put on the back burner. There are many reasons that are cited to be the reasons why the original YG girls will not grace the stage soon. Below are the three new reasons why 2NE1 comeback is not happening soon.
CL collab with CNN Style
CNN Style, a branch of CNN that covers fashion and lifestyle, announced a collaboration with 2NE1's CL. Lee Chaelin has been tagged as a fashion icon in South Korea and is a trendsetter among her age group. Her swag and urban fashion sense put her on top of the fashion game.
In a tweet, CNN teased on the upcoming collaboration with the South Korean rapper. The caption reads, "Exclusive: CNN Style has been cooking up something fresh with CL. More coming soon."
The teaser showed CL walking the streets of New York wearing a mask and unique fashion accessories like a paper clip on her cap or a fork on her glasses. It is hard to tell what the project could be. However, Blackjacks are happy to see that CL is making her way in the US.
CL "MTBD" scandal
CL was recently called out when she sang the version of her song "MTBD" with the controversial Quran verse in one of her performances. Muslims found CL's action as insensitive. 2NE1's leader has issued an apology for the mistake and said that she was supposed to sing the revised version. This may push or delay the impending comeback of the singer and her girls.
Recognition from US-based rappers
A recent react video surfaced online wherein US-based rappers like Ghostface Killah, Cam'ron, Desiigner, Tory Lanez, Lil Yachty, Flatbush Zombies, 21 Savage, GoldLink, and Jazz Cartier watched G-Dragon and Taeyang's "Good Boy" and CL's "Hello Bitches". Rappers said that if they will work with the two Korean artists if they will go to South Korea. This recognition is a big thing for the artists who are trying to penetrate the US music scene.
