The talk of a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight has started again but there are a lot of obstacles before it becomes a reality. For now, fans, fighters, experts just give their opinions on the possible outcome of the fight and Eddie Alvarez's striking coach believes McGregor can beat Mayweather.
"Notorious" made history last Saturday when he defeated Alvarez to become the new lightweight champion. He also became the first ever fighter to hold two title belts of different divisions at the same time.
McGregor used his powerful left hand to knock down Alvarez but the most surprising thing is how he made it look easy. His speed and accuracy were amazing to watch and it shocked his opponent, as well as his coaches.
Mark Henry, who is Alvarez's striking coach, compared McGregor's striking to Babe Ruth's swing. He also praised the Irishman for his abilities and he thinks that the two-division UFC champ can defeat "Money" Mayweather in a fight.
"It comes along once in a lifetime or once every hundred years or what not. I think God has just blessed him with a swing that I'll probably never see again. Before this fight, I would highly doubt him fighting Mayweather, but I think this dude can take out Mayweather. I'm not even joking," Henry said in an appearance on The Luke Thomas Show.
A lot of people have started to compare McGregor to Mayweather and even Muhammad Ali. However, the undefeated boxing legend did not like the comparison and he ranted about it in an interview. He said that he is an elephant compared to McGregor, who is an ant.
On the other hand, McGregor has already announced his terms for a boxing match. In an appearance at a club caught on camera by TMZ Sports, the 28-year-old star said that he wants $100 million because Mayweather only wants a boxing match and not a real fight.
"He wants it under boxing rules. He wants a boxing match. He doesn't want a fight. Tell Floyd and Showtime, I'm coming. Tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules cause he's afraid of a real fight," McGregor boasted.
According to CBS Sports, McGregor getting $100 million in a boxing match is not impossible since Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao got more than $100 million when they fought last year in the biggest fight in boxing history.
