The Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather Jr. feud continues to burn after the latter said the former is "piggybacking" off his name, a statement which fueled a series of heated exchanges.
In a video by TMZ, Mayweather was asked about what he thought about McGregor being the "Mayweather of MMA." The undefeated boxer answered by questioning the win-loss record and fight earnings of the Irish mixed martial artist.
"I didn't know Conor McGregor was undefeated. If you say he's the Floyd Mayweather of MMA, have he ever made 300 million in one night, have ever made 100 million in one, have he ever made 70 million in one night?" said Mayweather.
"He's smart at what he do. He's piggybacking off my name and that's what guys have been doing for years."
McGregor did not take Mayweather's comments lightly, especially after being called an "ant." The newly crowned two-division champion told TMZ Sports that Mayweather should "say it to my face."
Taking over a DJ booth in a club in New York, McGregor called out Mayweather by saying the former pound-for-pound king is not ready for him and does not want to have a "real fight," the entertainment website reported.
"Give Floyd a shout, tell him I'm coming," McGregor said. "I want $100 million to fight him under boxing rules because he's afraid of a real fight."
Since August, McGregor has been saying the same things about Mayweather, sparking fight rumors that have been talked about in the MMA and boxing world. Mayweather, who is now retired, has always wanted their possible fight to be under boxing rules. McGregor did not back down but took a few jabs on Mayweather by calling him afraid.
However, when asked about signing McGregor to his The Money Team promotions, Mayweather said he "would love to sign a guy like that," adding the Irish is "entertaining."
