Kurt Angle is back in the WWE and he is going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on WrestleMania 33 weekend in Orlando. There is talk of him possibly wrestling for the WWE again and he could replace John Cena during his hiatus.
The WWE shocked the world when they announce that Angle will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Although he's not officially retired, the 48-year-old old legend deserves the recognition. He also deserves at least one more match in the WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Angle is expected to undergo a medical. The WWE is reportedly planning to have him wrestle but as a part-timer and not a full-time WWE superstar.
"I don't know when or how extensively at this point, but the plan right now is that Angle will be doing at least some wrestling in WWE. He would have to pass a physical, and obviously at best it would be very limited," Meltzer said.
One of the possible roles for Angle after WrestleMania 33 is to temporarily replace John Cena on SmackDown Live, per Flickering Myth. If Angle gets cleared to wrestle, he is a good option to fill in for Cena during his hiatus.
The 16-time WWE world champion will take another hiatus after WrestleMania 33 to film his movie titled "The Pact" alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. Cena is officially transitioning into a part-time WWE superstar and Hollywood star.
Angle is still in very good shape for his age and he has more matches left in him. The prospect of him wrestling stars like A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, Seth Rollins, Rusev, Roman Reigns and more WWE stars is mouth-watering.
As for the WWE Hall of Fame induction, there is still no word on who is going to induct Angle. He wants Stone Cold Steve Austin to do the honors but Jim Ross speculated on his latest The Ross Report podcast that Cena might be the one inducting Angle.
Nevertheless, the important thing is Angle is back to the place where he belongs. He is one of the greatest WWE superstars in history and he deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
