"Scandal" season 5 will premiere in just a few months, but ahead of its premiere episode, here are some interesting facts fans need to know first.
According to Latin Times, "Scandal" season 5 will feature new cast upgrades from guest stars to series regulars. Just recently, it was announced that Cornelius Smith Jr. will play the recurring role of activist Marcus Walker. In season 4, Smith Jr. already appeared on two episodes of the hit ABC series.
Meanwhile, there are some rumors that Scott Foley, who plays the role of Jake Ballard, may not return to the series and it does not have anything to do with his character almost being killed off in season 4.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Foley and "Scandal" lead star Kerry Washington, who plays the role of Olivia Pope, have an ongoing feud in real life and this has made working together quite difficult for the both of them. However, despite such rumors, Foley has been very vocal about wanting to appear on the series.
In other news, a new gladiator will also join the cast this coming season 5. It is unclear whether or not Smith Jr. will be taking on the role, but series creator Shonda Rhimes previously confirmed that the new gladiator was previously featured in the series.
The inclusion of a new gladiator has caused fans to speculate on the future of Huck (Guillermo Diaz). After joining forces with Olivia's father and nemesis Rowan Pope (Joe Morton), it seems that Huck will continue to abandon the gladiators and Olivia.
"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on ABC this coming September 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
