Chinese pop star Deng Ziqi, more commonly known by her stage name G.E.M., has made her mark on the Swiss Alps after performing on the mountain of Jungfrau on Monday.
It was a dream come true for the pop singer to perform at the mountain of Jungfrau, known as the "roof of Europe." The mountain's name is German for "maiden."
G.E.M. put on an energetic show against the surreal snow-capped scenery of the Swiss Alps at the height of roughly 3,500 meters.
The 24-year-old singer is the first Chinese artist to perform at Jungfrau.
The concert began with a black helicopter landing on a platform on the mountain. When the red-shirted pop icon emerged, she was greeted by an avalanche of applause.
The singer used her hit songs and stage presence to captivate the audience. Her powerful voice more than passed the test the altitude handed her.
"Bringing Chinese music to Jungfrau is incredible," G.E.M. told Xinhua.
The successful singer was born in Shanghai but moved to Hong Kong at the young age of four. Her rise to fame started after she competed in the Chinese talent show "I Am a Singer."
The concert happened after China and Switzerland initiated a series of cultural events in celebration of the 65th year of diplomatic relations.
"Our Chinese friends will remember this event for a long time, an event organized in their honor and which illustrates the friendship between our two countries," organizer Jean-Claude Biver told reporters.
Jungfrau is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was visited by over 850,000 visitors in 2014. Most of those visitors came from China, South Korea and India.
