There are rumors that the Moto G series, including Moto G, Moto G2, and Moto G3 are all set to receive the Android Marshmallow update. Moto G3 is expected to get it by the end of 2015.
Motorola is yet to confirm which of these three devices in the Moto G series will receive the Android Marshmallow update first. If rumors are to be believed, Moto G3 is slated to get this update first, before the other two devices. It will get this update before the end of this year.
According to Android Origin, Moto G2 is rumored to get this update in Jan or Feb. 2016 and Moto G is rumored to get this update in Feb 2016.
These devices are also expected to be updated with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update soon. Rumors suggest that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be released for the Moto G series on Sept. 29.
This update will enable these three devices to use the latest Android version before switching to Android Marshmallow. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will fix the Stage Fright bug. Android Marshmallow is expected to release in the month of October along with the release of Google Nexus 5X.
The release of Android Marshmallow for the Motorola devices will start with the Moto X Style, also known as Moto X Pure. Moto X 2014, Moto Droid Turbo, Moto G3 will follow, getting this update in Dec 2015. Since Motorola is known to be an early adopter of the Android upgrades, the other device users can also expect a timely upgrade of their Motorola devices.
According to BGR, Android Marshmallow will bring about many new changes in the devices, including updated options for emergency calls, API level 23, enhanced enumeration support, and a rotatable home screen.
