Samsung Galaxy S5 is all set to receive the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade from network carriers Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, and AT&T.
The upgrade is already present for the T-Mobile network carrier for this device, according to the T-Mobile's Support Forum.
A lot of Samsung Galaxy S5 owners initiated the request for this upgrade on various mobile forums, eventually leading Samsung to release this operating system upgrade. The update will be released as an over-the-air (OTA) release. This implies that different users will get this update at different time, in an entirely random fashion.
Whenever the device gets a prompt for the Android 5.1.1 upgrade, the users must follow onscreen instructions. They should also make sure that the device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection and the storage capacity of the device is enough to make the installation.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be bringing in many new features and improvements to the device, according to BGR. These will include improvement in the user interface, a lot more notification options, device sharing options and also syncing updates. Many security patches will also be added to the device, especially the Stage Fright fix.
The devices which are currently running on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 are Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, Samsung Galaxy J1, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 along with Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. These devices are expected to be later updated with Android Marshmallow.
Android Marshmallow will enhance the performance of the device and also improve the battery life.
