Xbox One gamers who want to bring back the button remapping feature found on the Xbox 360 need not to worry as the New Xbox One Experience update brings back the feature after popular demand.
Button remapping is once again an available option for Xbox One controllers. The feature was reinstated on the new console after gamers demanded its restoration. Microsoft said that it is part of the company's plan to make sure that it is properly addressing all the concerns and demands of its users.
Before the release of the update, button remapping is only available on the Xbox One Elite controllers which costs $150 each. This infuriated many Xbox One gamers claiming that it is a marketing stunt in order to promote the premium controller.
The button remapping update was announced by Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb via the Major Nelson website posting, "As part of the New Xbox One Experience, we have added button remapping capability for standard Xbox One controller through the Xbox Accessories App. This highly-requested feature offers a great alternative to remapping buttons on an individual game basis."
According to Engadget, the Button Mapping feature can be accessed on the Ease of Access option under the Settings tab.
Hryb warned gamers that mapped buttons they create on a standard Xbox One controller only works with the console with which the controller was mapped. In case gamers choose to use a different Xbox One console, they have to remap the buttons all over again. On the other hand, gamers will not experience this kind of restriction when they use the Elite Xbox One controller.
Aside from button remapping, the New Xbox One Experience update also brought in upgrades on Dashboard navigation and backwards compatibility.
