Talk show host Jimmy Fallon successfully convinced British singer Adele to perform "Hello" live with the band The Roots using instruments that are not usually associated with piano ballads.
"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" had the 27-year-old songwriter in attendance for the one-of-a-kind performance on Nov. 24, Tuesday, that made the sad track somewhat fun to hear.
Fallon turned on the video recorder to show the host with Adele and the talk show host's Grammy award-winning house band The Roots, according to the Boston Herald.
While Adele sang "Hello," with sheer power and passion even while the singer is sitting with several people, the 41-year-old Fallon played a bass drum, a wood block and a funky, little Casio keyboard.
The songwriter, who graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, even joined the fun by showing a lime green flip phone to jokingly reenact a scene in the "Hello" music video.
Likewise, house band the roots chimed in with instruments such as hand clappers, orange shaker, melodica, ukulele, xylophone, a banana shaker, kazoo, tambourine and a kazoo, which all evoked a childlike, happy feeling once played together.
Meanwhile, Adele's latest album "25" is poised to reach three million sales in the United States during the album's first week alone, according to Billboard.
The album has currently sold 2.8 million copies and 1.45 million of the total are actually digital albums. Thus, Adele has also broken Lady Gaga's record of most number of digital album sales during the first week since "Born This Way" sold only 662,000 copies.
Having already beaten NSYNC's record of selling 2,416,000 copies of "No Strings Attached" just a week after debuting in March 26, 2000, Adele is expected to get another album at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart following "21," which came out on Jan. 19, 2011 and eventually sold 11.2 million copies.
Nielsen is expected to finish tracking the album sales for the first week and unveil the final count by Nov. 29, Sunday.
Adele's third studio album "25" was released on Nov. 20, Friday, and was distributed through XL Recordings.
