The highly anticipated premiere of "Vikings" season 4 airs Thursday, February 18 on the History Channel. The latest spoilers suggest that Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) may just be regretting his decision to invade Paris.

In the season 3 finale, viewers saw a very weak Ragnar returning home. With his condition, it comes as no surprise that several have expressed interest in taking over his throne, including his own wife and eldest son.

According to "Vikings" season 4 spoilers from Entertainment Tonight, it seems like Ragnar has already accepted his fate.

"Only fools believe they can live forever by avoiding the fight. I embrace the idea of death," he said.

Ragnar also warned others about the dangers of being too absorbed with power. Given what he experienced when he invaded Paris, he said that it was not worth it. He added that people would stop at nothing, just to have more power.

"You see the problem with power is the more you have, the more others want it. And in my world, power can only be truly be built... with blood."

In spite of his warning, Lagertha (Kathryn Winnick) is still determined to take over. She pointed out that she had already embraced the idea of life and death, adding it is not her, but the gods who are in charge of her fate.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, back in April, "Vikings" series creator Michael Hirst said that making Ragnar look weak is very important in the story progression for season 4. He shared that the king will be "hovering between life and death" to give way to his sons' stories.

While it will be devastating for fans to see Ragnar die, Hirst hoped that they have developed quite an investment to his sons by that time. He shared that each of them will play an entirely different role, which would be interesting to see.

The showrunner previously held that he has always imagined how "Vikings" would be without Ragnar. Since the beginning, Hirst explained that he always perceived that Ragnar's son will eventually surpass him and even become more famous than he was. He hoped the fans will be interested to see their journey in the following episodes.
