News regarding "Dark Souls" being made available on Xbox One was first released by Australian Xbox Store, but it was later pulled down. According to numerous reports, the initial leaks have now been confirmed by US Xbox Store, which clearly mentions that users pre-ordering "Dark Souls III" shall get access to previous "Dark Souls" games.

Making "Dark Souls" available on Xbox One is part of Microsoft's strategy to create backwards compatibility between Xbox 360 and Xbox One. According to Polygon, Microsoft had announced in January this year that they would be rolling out backwards compatibility updates for Xbox 360 on a per game basis, and "Dark Souls" is a part of it.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the free access to "Dark Souls" game may just be a promotional offer and were unlikely to be offered for an extended period of time. Furthermore, there are no signs of "Artorias of the Abyss" DLC being included in this game when it arrives on Xbox One.

According to reports, "Dark Souls III" is scheduled for an April 12 release, and shall be arriving on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

For reference, "Dark Souls" is a third person action role-playing game released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011. "Dark Souls" games was released first in Japan, and Europe, North America and Australia thereafter. It is developed by From Software and published by Bandai Namco Games internationally. The game received positive reviews in 2011, and so far, "Dark Souls" has been rated as one of the most played games on Xbox.
