Struggling squad SV Darmstadt 98 (6-10-7, 25 points) is scheduled to host top contender Borussia Dortmund (17-3-3, 54 points) at their home stadium of Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor on Wednesday, March 2nd for a 2015-2016 Bundesliga season matchup.
Darmstadt is on a downward spiral right now, settling for a 2-2 draw with bottom-three team Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion last Saturday, as per SkySports.
Die Werderaner opened the scoring at the 33rd minute with a right-footed shot from center box by Nigerian forward Anthony Ujah. Die Lilien managed to tie the count one minute before the halftime break with a converted penalty kick from German striker Sandro Wagner.
The newly-promoted club got a hold of the lead at the 82nd via a header from team captain Aytac Sulu, whose shot from the center of the box pierced through the defense of Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald.
Bremen equalized the game again seven minutes later with a close range header by veteran Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro.
The draw was the third straight winless match for Darmstadt, with the previous two both losses, which dropped them to the no. 14 spot of the league table.
Meanwhile, Dortmund pulled off its second consecutive win with a victory over an outmatched 10-man Hoffenheim squad, 3-1, at the Signal Iduna Park last Sunday, as reported by Goal.
Hoffenheim actually scored the first goal of the match, a 25th-minute center box shot from midfielder Sebastian Rudy. The lead stood until the halftime break as Thomas Tuchel's squad seems to be out of form in the offense during the first half.
However, Rudy was booked with a straight red card at the 58th for fouling BVB striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and was sent off.
With Die Kraichgauer now a man down, Die Borussen immediately took advantage, scoring the next three goals of the match, one each from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Adrian Ramos, and Aubameyang at the 80th, 85th, and 90th+2 minutes, to overpower their visitors.
The predicted result is another 3-1 victory for Borussia Dortmund.
